George Snow

 

In June 1948, 10 days after graduating from Holliston High School, George Snow joined the U.S. Navy. He was trained in electronics, and would spend the next 21 years as a petty officer/technician at various stations, including the 1st Naval District in Boston and with the submarine service in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean.

 

 

 

Zecil Gravitz

 
In 1942, Zecil Gravitz had just graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in chemistry. She began work at the Navy Yard in Philadelphia researching “fluxes,” part of the process in building battleships. She would join the Navy WAVES in 1943, working at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and in Philadelphia as a chemist, and later as an expeditor.

Jennifer Holey

U.S. Army 1994–2002

 

Jennifer Holey entered the Army Nurse Corps after graduating from Texas Christian University, where she was a member of ROTC. Her eight-year career in the Army included six months in Haiti as an ER nurse at a United Nations facility in Port-au-Prince. She described her experiences there in her self-published memoir, “Cinderella, The Church and a Crazy Lady.”
