Louis J. DiCicco

U.S. Navy 1943–1945

Like many of his classmates at Natick High School, Louis DiCicco enlisted in the Navy in February 1943, a few months short of graduation. After training in fire control in Newport and San Diego, Lou was assigned to the refurbished USS Pennsylvania in Pearl Harbor, supplying fire power in support of the Marines in the Pacific. He reminisces about the dangers the Pennsylvania faced, from almost being hit by torpedoes from a sinking American ship to kamikaze pilots and Tokyo Rose’s reporting that the Pennsylvania had been sunk.
