U.S. Air Force 1943–1947

 

Richard “Dick” Dinning was a student at Northwestern University when the U.S. entered World War II. He volunteered for the U.S. Army Air Force, and eventually became a B-17 pilot with the 351st Bomb Group, 8th Air Force. Dinning flew 33 missions over Germany, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.
