Denise Nelken (daughter of WWII Veteran Harvey Nelken)

Denise Nelken is the author of “A Life through Letters,” which chronicles the experiences of her father, Harvey. Born and raised in Austria, Harvey Nelken and his family fled the country when the Nazis took over. Harvey spent time in an English boarding school before moving to the United States. After graduating from Lehigh University in 1943, he was drafted into the Army, where he became part of a topographical unit. His unit landed in Normandy shortly after the invasion, and made its way through France, Belgium, Holland and Germany.
