U.S. Marine Corps 1943–1948

Raymond Ellis joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1943 “because his buddy did.” He was trained in aviation mechanics and sent to the Pacific, and became a plane captain in charge of his commander’s Hellcat. He remembers seeing some of the action over Okinawa.

This interview was recorded at the Willows in Westborough.
