Michael Barretti Jr.

Michael Barretti Jr. joined the Navy in 1999 as a way to help pay for medical school. He received the Navy’s Health Professions Scholarship, and was soon an ensign attending medical school in California. His active duty experiences include a tour of Iraq with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, where Barretti found himself in the middle of a firefight. Barretti also took part in a humanitarian mission to Central and South America. He would serve in active duty and Reserves for a total of 18 years, rising to the rank of commander.
