U.S. Army 1942–1947


Shortly after his 18th birthday, Morley Piper enlisted in the U. S. Army, where he trained to use an anti-aircraft gun, then became an officer assigned to the 29th Infantry Division. He landed on Omaha Beach and saw action in northern France, Belgium and Germany as a platoon leader in a rifle company. In 2014, Piper attended the ceremonies in Normandy commemorating the 70th anniversary of the landing.
