Thruston Hammer

U.S. Navy 1943–1946

Thruston Hammer joined the U.S. Navy’s V-12 reserve program in 1943, while a student at Yale University. He underwent midshipman training at the University of Notre Dame in 1944, and was commissioned as an ensign. Hammer would serve on board an LST, and served at several points in the Pacific Theater, including Okinawa, Guam and the Philippines.
